Reviewing Personal Information
You can review your library account at any time by clicking Patron Account on the menu bar and logging in (see "Logging In and Out".) The My Record page displays a summary of your library account information. From this page, you can view and edit your personal information, or change your password.
Check and update account information
Follow these steps to see the personal information in your patron account record, and to submit new account information to the library.
- Click Patron Account on the menu bar, and log in if necessary.
- Click Change Account Information to display the change request form.
If you have more than one address, such as home and work addresses, each address appears in its own section. You may need to scroll the form to see details about each address.
- Type or select the new information in the appropriate boxes, as required.
- Click Submit Change Request to submit the new information to the library, or click Reset to restore the old information.
Important:
When you submit changes in your account information, your account is blocked from activity until the library processes the new information.
- Click Back to return to the My Record page, or click Log Out to quit Patron Access functions and protect your privacy.
Change your e-mail format
If you receive notices from the library via e-mail, you can specify HTML or plain text format. Follow these steps to set your e-mail format preference.
- Click Patron Account on the menu bar, and log in if necessary.
- Click Change Preferences on the My Record page.
- Select a format for e-mail notices, and click Submit.
- Click Back to return to the My Record page, or click Log Out to quit Patron Access functions and protect your privacy.
Change your password
Your library may allow you to change your own password, but you must first access your patron account with your library account number and current password. If you are working in the library and you want to access your account without a password, a library staff member may be able to type an override password to allow you to view your account. Follow these steps to set a new password.
Note:
Your library may require you to insert a card in a reader and type a password or PIN to use a library workstation. If you change your Polaris patron account password, the password or PIN you use with your card is not affected.
- Click Patron Account on the menu bar, and log in.
- Click Change Password to display the Change Password form.
- Type your current password in the Old Password box.
- Type the new password in the New Password box.
The password must be a minimum of 4 characters and a maximum of 16. You can use letters and numbers, but not special keyboard characters. Letter case (capitals or lowercase) does not matter.
- Type the new password again in the Verification box.
- Click Submit.
If the New Password and Verification entries match, a confirmation message is displayed. If you see an error message, repeat steps 4-6.
- Click Back to return to the My Record page, or click Log Out to quit Patron Access functions and protect your privacy.
