Film: "Sailing All Seas"
Thursday, January 5th, 3-4 pm
Circumnavigating the globe was not commonplace in the 1930s, especially in a 32-foot ketch. That's what Dwight Long did at the age of 21, setting off from Seattle and sailing to Tahiti, the Suez, London, and back to America. He filmed his six-year voyage almost entirely on early color film, adding his own narration at a later date.
Atlantic Bluegrass Band
Friday, January 6th, 7-9 pm
Atlantic Bluegrass Band returns to our Library Coffee House for their second performance of the season. They play traditional bluegrass music featuring banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, and bass. Spend the evening enjoying some foot stomping, toe tapping, knee slapping music. The evening also includes poetry readings. Gourmet coffee and pastries will be served with donations accepted.
State Representative Debbie Mayfield
Monday, January 9th, 10 to Noon
State Representative Debbie Mayfield has scheduled satellite office hours for citizen services at the Library. This is a great opportunity for you to share their views on state issues or request assistance in resolving a problem from Representative Mayfield or a staff member.
Children's Winter/Spring Programs
Registrations are now being taken for the Winter/Spring session of children's programs at the Library which will begin on Monday, January 9th and continue through Wednesday, May 16th.
Programs offered are Toddler Time on Mondays, 10:15 to 11 am for eighteen months – 3 years old; Baby Time on Tuesdays, 11:30 am to noon, for birth through eighteen months old; Twilight Tales on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 to 7:45 pm, for five to ten years old; and Story Time on Wednesdays, 10:15 to 11 am, for 3-5 year olds.

Film: "Hong Kong and Taiwan"
Thursday, January 12th, 3-4 pm
Megan McCormick visits Hong Kong, taking in the contrasts of the city before traveling to Tap Mum Chau and Lantau Island. In Taiwan she explores the capital Taipei, ending her trip at Orchid Island. Along the way she drives through Taroko Gorge, visits Happy Valley Racecourse, takes a class in Tai Chi on the Kowloon waterfront and watches a sunset from the top of Jade Mountain.
Film: "Growing Up With Rockets"

Local filmmaker Nancy Yasecko grew up in Cocoa Beach as the daughter of a NASA engineer during the missile and Moon race years. Using home movie footage, as well as interviews and rare movie clips she gives the audience an insider's look at family life at Cape Canaveral from the mid-1950s through 1972 and Apollo 17, the last of the manned lunar missions.

Cuba's recent history has played a big part in keeping its rich and unusual natural environment untouched while its Caribbean neighbors have had wild landscapes poisoned or paved over thanks to the tourist industry. Once the US trade embargo ends and tourism rises what will happen to Cuba's stunning biodiversity?
The Ashley Gang
Friday, February 3rd, 7-9 pm
This all-time favorite band is returning to our Library Coffee House to play country, jazz, and traditional folk music.
Many of their original songs were written by Al Scortino of Sebastian and reflect the history and culture of this area. The group is routinely featured at Florida’s major folk events, including the Florida Folk Festival, South Florida Folk Festival, Gamble Rogers Folk Festival, Will McLean Folk Festival, and the Barberville Fall Jamboree.
